Cleaning Up Your Favourites Can Microsoft Find You? Undoing Mistakes We hope you rang in the new year in style and had a great time doing so wherever in the world you are. There's lots of great tips in store for you in 2009, so let's get started... Clean Up Your Favourites And although, it won't speed up your computer or make it more secure, keeping your favourites tidy in your web browser will make your life a bit more efficient since you won't have to sift through so many outdated ones you never visit. And since on of the objectives of this newsletter is to make your computing tasks more efficient and it's the new year, what better time than to clean them up than now. Why wait 'til spring? To delete old, rarely visited web sites from your favourites, simply select the Favorites menu option, hover over the bookmark you wish to remove, right click and then select Delete. When you're asked to confirm your deletion, simply say Yes. That's all there is to it! Can Microsoft Find You? This can come in handy if you don't have a GPS system but do have a laptop with WiFi capabilities with you and want to know where you are. To get a copy, go to Microsoft's Download Center and locate and download the free Microsoft Location Finder program. Run the downloaded install program and install it to your hard drive as you would with any other program. After installing, run the program by going to Start > All Programs > Microsoft Location Finder. Shortly after it starts, you should see a map highlighting your location! It finds your location by searching for the nearest WiFi access points or, if those aren't available, by using your IP to try to find you. Cool! Undoing Mistakes You can also use Edit > Undo in the program's file menu. Of course if you quickly change your mind that you really don't want to undo the change you just did, press CTRL and Y at the same time to redo you change. That's it for this month and this year. We wish you happy holidays in the month ahead with your loved ones and of course, a happy new year. If you've found these tips useful, please share them!
