Creating Your Own Shortcut It doesn’t matter if you have your favourite website addresses on your desktop or you want quicker access to your most frequently used programs, the steps are the same.
If you want to use letters or numbers, you’ll need to press CTRL+ALT+(your
key) to enable the shortcut. You can also select one of your keyboard’s
function keys for a one key shortcut. But in either case, make sure you
don’t select a shortcut key which is already in use by one of your
programs. Otherwise you’ll find yourself starting a program instead
of running the function you wanted to do within the active program. How can you tell if a site is secure? The URL (web address) should start with “https://” rather than “http://” and there should be a little lock in the lower-right corner of the web browser.
